I was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania in 1953, the fourth of nine children. I have an eclectic background in law enforcement, electronics, technical writing and youth ministry.
In July of 1975, I married Debbie McClung in Sheffield Lake, Ohio and our first daughter was born in December of 1976. In 1978, we visited our Pastor, Robbie Wynn, in Tyler, Texas, and I was offered a job as a Customer Service Representative for Lanier Business Products in Tyler. We went back home, packed, and moved to Texas that Fall. Our second daughter was born in Tyler in December of 1980.
Having served as a Youth Minister since 1971, I continued in that role at Westwood Baptist Church in Tyler before moving to Longview to attend East Texas Baptist University. We began home schooling our daughter, believing we had the “OK” of the local school district, but soon discovered that warrants had been issued for my arrest. While home schooling is perfectly acceptable in Texas today, in those days it was considered a “grey area”, and some cases were prosecuted by the State of Texas. To make a long story short, I lost my job, and a Church in Huntsville called me to be their College Minister.
Having served a wonderful 5 years ministering to Sam Houston University students, we moved on to our first Pastorate in Navasota, Texas in 1987. Several Pastorates later, we are amazed that we have been in the Ministry for 40 years.
Currently, I am seeking to serve as Pastor or Interim Pastor in the Magnolia / Houston area, and am available for supply preaching, special events, men’s retreats, etc.
